GymPro and Ocean5 = World record-holders

As you know we embarked on an adventure with the crew of the Ocean 5 over 12 months ago. It was our honour to get involved and sponsor the boys and provide them with our active range for both their training and voyage across the Atlantic for the Talisker Whisky Rowing Challenge.

The Challenge involved rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands to Antigua! The herculean effort of both the mental and physical aspect of rowing for 2 hours on 2 hours off for 40 days was nothing short of miraculous.

Not only did the boys complete the challenge, they broke the world record!!! Finishing in an astonishing 35 days, 19hours, 50 minutes.

Alongside the event, the crew were raising awareness and funds for their charity, The Plastic Soup Foundation. Which is aimed at the prevention of plastics entering our oceans. At the current entry rate, in 30 years, there will be more plastics than fish in the world's oceans. They have raised 1000’s to this great cause and if you would like to donate to this worthy charity then please click on their website or their GoFundMe page.

Two members of the crew got engaged after the challenge and we’d like to both congratulate them and wish them well in their future together. We couldn’t think of a more beautiful setting than the beautiful beach in Antigua.

So how did our clothing measure up to this monumental challenge? Here’s what the boys said,

“We have used the kit for travelling, training and rowing and found it comfortable and flexible all round. We are truly grateful for your help and support with such a practical product.”

Our range had to stand up to salt, sweat, heat, abrasion and washing for not only the challenge but for the months of rigorous training and preparation.

We are so proud of our active range. It always means a great deal to us when we receive feedback not only from our athletes but from all of our customers too.
